  • 2012 Outdoor Soccer Registration

    2012 Outdoor Soccer Registration Soccer Registration for the 2012 Outdoor season will take place as follows:

    • Wednesday March 7 at the Rio Terrace Community League Hall from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
    • Wednesday March 14 at the Mayfield Inn (Palisades Room) from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

    Fees for the season will be finalized and posted to this website by end of day Feb 22.

    Age groupings and days of play (tentative)/ start times for Community level soccer are as follows:

    Year of birth –> Age Group –> Primary Days of Play & Start Times

    • 2006-2008 –> U6 Fun Soccer –> Mondays & Wednesdays, 6:15 PM
    • 2004 & 2005 –> U-8 –> Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:15 PM
    • 2002 & 2003 –> U-10 –> Mondays & Wednesdays, 6:15 PM
    • 2000 & 2001 –> U-12 –> Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7:30 PM
    • 1998 & 1999 –> U-14 –> Mondays & Wednesdays, 6:15 PM & 7:45 PM
    • 1996 & 1997 –> U-16 –> Thursdays & Sundays, 6:15 PM & 7:45 PM
    • 1994 & 1995 –> U-18 –> Thursdays & Sundays, 6:15 PM & 7:45 PM

    Play in the Rio Terrace U6 Fun Soccer Program will start Monday May 7.

    Play for older age groups could start as early as Sunday April 29 – weather and field conditions permitting.

    Coaches will be contacting players in mid April or so.

  • 2011-2012 Indoor Soccer Registration!

    Registration for the 2011-2012 Indoor Soccer Season will take place as follows:

    • Tuesday September 6 at West Soccer Centre (17415 106A Ave) from 6 PM to 9 PM
    • Thursday September 8 at the West Soccer Centre (17415 106A Ave) from 6 PM to 9 PM

    All west end community soccer programs will be registering at this same time and location  – look for the Rio Terrace area (likely upstairs)

    • A late registration session will take place Thursday September 15 from 5:30 PM to 9 PM at EWZSA office (15430 – 93 Ave)

    Late registration also available September 9 through 15 via director@rioterracesoccer.ca

    Important things to bring to registration:

    • New 2011 -2012 Community Membership card or number (can purchase on-line, or at registration, or at the Rio Terrace Mac Store (corner of 156 St. & 77 Ave)
    • Player’s Alberta Health Care card
    • 3 cheques per player being registered (sorry no debit or credit cards) – one each for Registration fees  and Uniform Deposit (except U-6). (Note: Registration fee payable to EWZSA, Team Fee payable to Rio Terrace Community League, Uniform Deposit postdated to March 30, 2012 and payable to Rio Terrace Community League.

  • Rio Terrace Soccer is underway for the Outdoor Season, and all teams are full – no more registrations are being accepted

    The Outdoor soccer season is now underway, and Rio Terrace is a busy hub of soccer with 16 teams looking for success on the soccer pitch.

    We have 4 U-6 Fun Soccer teams of 12 players each, and 5 U-8 teams, 2 U-10 teams, 2 U-14 teams 1 U-16 team and 2 U-18 teams. This is a total of 225 players competing on Rio Terrace based teams.

    We also have a further 15 or so players who were placed on neighbouring community teams due to registrations exceeding the places available on the teams that we are hosting.

    All of the Rio Terrace teams are now full and we are not able to accept any further registrations for the Outdoor season.

    Registration for the Indoor Soccer Season will take place in September, check back here in early September for registration information.

  • U6 Fun Soccer starts Monday May 9!

    The Rio Terrace U6 Fun Soccer Program will start play on Monday May 9. Presumably the soccer fields will be open for use by then! Fun Soccer Program is for children aged 4–6 years at December 31, 2011.

    We are still looking for some more parents to help with coaching, so please email any interest to director@rioterracesoccer.ca. We are also still accepting players, so if your child wants to play please contact director@rioterracesoccer.ca.

    The Rio Terrace U6 Soccer Program details include:

    • Games on Mondays and Wednesdays starting at 6:15 PM – with a short practice usually proceeding the game
    • Games will be completed by 7:00 PM – 2 halves of 20 minutes with a 5 minute break between halves.
    • We will play 5 aside – 1 goalie, 2 forwards and 2 defenders
    • Snacks for half time to be provided by the parents
    • All games are at the Rio Terrace School / Community field – most likely will be playing 2 games crossways on the larger northern most field
    • We expect to have 5 teams so one team will have a bye each night – they can practise or even play against the parents on the second Rio Terrace field
    • Jerseys and socks will be provided  to all players to keep
    • Players should wear shorts, runners and shin guards (and enough clothes to stay warm!!)
    • All teams will be entered into the Tim Bits Jamboree on Saturday June 18 – a great event to celebrate the end of the season.
    • Rio Terrace Fun Soccer wrap-up party will be on Monday June 20 – treats for all.

    We are still registering players for the Outdoor Soccer season at Rio Terrace. Looking primarily for 4 to 6 year olds – birth years of 2005 – 2007. Soccer is a great way to get your child active and mixing with other children in the community. If interested, contact the soccer coordinator at  director@rioterracesoccer.ca

    Contact the soccer coordinator to see if there are still openings in any of the other age groups.

  • Vacant Volunteer Positions Need Filling – Fun Soccer and Referee Coordination

    Coordinates the U-6 Fun Soccer Program for Rio Terrace.

    Community Soccer Referee Coordinator

    Schedules and manages the Rio Terrace community referees who officiate for U-10 & U-12 community soccer  during the Outdoor Soccer season.

  • Interested in Refereeing???

    Directed primarily at current soccer players on Rio Terrace U-14 & U-16 soccer teams, but anyone over 12 and interested in officiating at Rio Terrace Community soccer games can attend referees courses  and start to officiate. Officiating duties initially are to be head official for U-10 & U-12 community soccer, but can also expand to include assistant referee for older age groups.

    Please also check the EMSA and EWZSA websites for info on coming officiating courses – they generally take place in April prior to the start of the Outdoor Soccer season.

  • Rio Terrace U6 Soccer Program Update

    The Rio Terrace U6 Soccer Program will start their season on Monday May 3

    The U6 Program consists of:

    • Male and female players with birth years 2004 through 2006 playing on mixed age and mixed gender teams.
    • Play takes place on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rio Terrace fields
    • Season ends Wednesday June 23
